Vasconcella weberbaueri (Harms) V. Badillo

Common synonyms : Carica weberbaueri Harms.

Common names : Sp: mauscha

Origin and geographical distribution : Andes of Southern Ecuador (Loja) and Northern Peru (Amazonas, Cajamarca, La Libertad), rare.

Status : Wild.

Description : Semi-lignose, ramified, height to 10 m, propagated by seeds; leaves lobed; flowers green-yellowish, plants dioecious, fruit piriform 5-lobed, orange at maturity, 3-8 x 4-6 cm.  

Uses : Edible fruits, resistant against Fusarium-fungi and Meloidogyne-nematodes.
